2016, New Year, New Resolutions. The determination to make healthier choices and to lose weight or say rather maintain a Healthy weight. I am not an advocate of dieting or counting calories. All we have to do is opt for healthier options, take up an exercise or any physical activity which allows us to sweat and try not to take the stress. 

As per Ayurveda, one of the keys to living a healthy disease free life is to have a strong Digestive System. If our digestion is not proper it leads to accumulation of AMA( toxins ) in our body which ultimately turns into a disease. Therefore, it is extremely crucial to streamline the digestive system which builds a strong foundation  for a healthy happy life. 

One of the bad habit which unfortunately most of us do is having ice cold water or soda with food. How many times I have heard people saying it is must to have soda as it helps with digesting the heavy food. Really????This one habit of our ruins the whole digestive process. Although sipping little hot water with meals is perfect to enhance digestion and melt down the fat.

As Dr. Vasant Lad says:

Water before a meal is a nectar. It replenishes the food and encourages juicy digestive organs.Small sips during a meal is honey. It helps turn food into a sauce. Water after a meal is a poison as it dilutes the stomach acids. 

I usually try to incorporate something daily which helps me get rid of toxins as well as boost up my metabolism. This helps me mildly and gent;y detoxifying my body daily rather than overburdening myself with strict detox diets which crash my energy to zero levels.This tea which I am going to share with you today is a godsend to me. I love it, it flavorful and energizing. 

So without further delay let me tell you the main ingredients of this tea. Lemon, Mint, Ginger and Himalayan Pink salt ( or Black Salt). One thing which is important to note down here is all the above ingredients added to plain water also helps in efficient absorption of water. So if you are someone who pees immediately after consuming water you must try adding these herbs to your water.

All the above ingredients are known for their health boosting properties. 
Following are the benefits of consuming this tea daily:

Let's get started: 

Serves: 2 Servings

  • 2 to 3 cups filtered water 
  • 4 slices of fresh lemon 
  • Freshly squeezed 1/2 lemon juice 
  • 12 to 15 fresh mint leaves 
  • 2-inch piece of fresh ginger
  • Pinch of Himalayan Pink Salt or Black Salt 


Bring water to boil and add grated ginger. Simmer for 10 minutes. Turn off the stove and add lemon slices. mint leaves and pink salt. Let it cool down a bit for few minutes. Don't let it cool down completely. Water should be warm. Add lemon juice. Never boil the lemon juice as it kills down its nutritive value

Note: I do not strain out the ginger as I like biting it. Love its strong flavor. But if you want you can strain it out.

I have this tea first thing in the morning and after lunch. This helps me to fight back the afternoon sluggishness I feel after having heavy lunch.
